Jack London The Iron Heel New York, NY Imprint of: Wilshire Book Company (Clearning House for all Socialist Literature) 1908 Collectible: Good Good+ copy of a very scarce pirated (?)edition from the New York socialist publisher, Wilshire Book Company. In every way appears to be the Macmillan first, except for slug on spine and statement of publisher at bottom of title page. Bookplate removed from inside front board. Transparent brown spotch (who knows of what substance...) affects 10 page chapter on the General Strike. Else a good+ bright copy with only light wear at head heel and corners and a minor bump to top corner. A bargain. An "historians" account of a failed revolution led by Ernest and Agnes Everhard (from their "papers") from the perspective of a successful revolution - 5 centuries later. A dark, powerful and realistic political novel centering around an oligarchic tyranny in the United States. The introduction by P. Vaillant-Couturier discusses Jack London's strong socialist views in relation to the book. In depth foreword by Anthony Meredith."
